I guess I was lucky enough to have been born in a country with lovely and tropical weather where people can enjoy the warm (sometimes scorching hot) and breezy weather almost all throughout the year. When I was much younger, I can still remember how it was so common for many Filipino families to have different tropical fruit bearing trees, like mangoes, avocadoes, jackfruit, star apple, cotton fruit (santol), soursop (guyabano), papaya, starfruit, guava and muntingia (aratilis) in their backyard. My sister (Teacher Mel) and I would always ask my father to pick us some fruits from my grandpa’s big backyard and play pretend fruits shop while my father was preparing yummy AVOCADO WITH CONDENSED MILK AND CRUSHED ICE. Those days were ones of the happiest days of our childhood.

I have been wanting to share about how most Filipinos prepare and eat avocado for a long time now, especially after hearing from some students that Japanese usually eat avocadoes with soy sauce. This may come as a surprise for some of the readers, but here in the Philippines, we often serve avocado as a dessert. Avocado with condensed milk and crushed ice is one of the simplest and most popular ways of serving and enjoying avocadoes for many Filipinos. It really is a very simple dessert/snack but definitely really good. That is why I’ve decided to share how you can also make this easy to prepare and super yummy avocado dessert on my next blog entry.

Ingredients:
1. Avocado
2. Condensed milk (You can also use evaporated milk and then add white sugar if condensed milk is not available.)
3. Crushed ice

Directions:
Slice the avocado into long, thick strips or cubes. Drizzle some condensed milk (or add evaporated milk and sugar). Mix in the crushed ice. Enjoy your mouth watering avocado with milk and ice dessert with your loved ones.

It is super easy to prepare, right?.. You can also make avocado smoothies using the same ingredients when you use a blender…
Thank you so much again for always supporting Englishbuds, Mommies and Daddies… I hope that you could enjoy this unique and yummy avocado dessert with you family… Thank you always…

アボガドをスイーツとして食べる

という感覚は確かに日本人にはないかも・・・(^^;

ハワイ料理の影響なのか

日本ではアボガドは海鮮と一緒に醤油で食べたり

ということが多いように思います。

わが家は娘がアボガドが好きではないので

買ってまでは食べず、

回転寿司でえびアボガドを食べるくらいですね(^^;
