Time management is one of the biggest challenges of a working mom. The demands of my profession as a lawyer can be very taxing and time consuming. It requires extensive readings and legal research. In our law office, my husband, Anthony Sing and I prepare legal documents such as contracts, written agreements, demand letters and pleadings for both corporate and individual clients. In our line of work, it is highly important for us to keep track of our schedule in order to meet certain deadlines.
With our legal training and experience, I have learned the value of effective scheduling to boost productivity with less stress and hustle. The same habit has also helped me a lot in managing my time as a working mother. Self-discipline and being organized are the keys to efficient time management. Once we get used to a daily schedule, it will be a lot easier and more comfortable to maintain a productive routine.
In the morning, I see to it that I have ample time to perform my responsibilities as a mom to baby Matthew and my household duties as well. I make sure that everything is in order before I start working. Being a mom is definitely a full time job. But it gives me the greatest sense of happiness and fulfilment in life. Despite the overwhelming schedule and difficulties, I feel very happy and blessed to be a mother. Baby Matthew is my inspiration to keep going and to do my best in everything.
For the rest of the day, I plan my work schedule in advance to ensure that I accomplish my tasks within the time frame. I have also slowly learned the importance of multitasking to optimize results. In between my monotonous schedule as a lawyer, I am blessed to be given the opportunity to work as an ESL teacher for Englishbuds.
I get to meet a lot of energetic kids and students who are eager to learn in class. Teaching at Englishbuds is truly a breath of fresh air amidst my tedious and repetitive work as a lawyer. I always enjoy and have fun whenever I have lessons with my students. It feels as if I am teaching my own son, baby Matthew.
Being a mom, a teacher and a lawyer can be very overwhelming. But with proper time management, I get to maintain a healthy work-life balance.
