【講師コラム】デイジー講師No.16～ Making the Most Out of Summer with the Family ～

Summer in the Philippines is definitely one of the most fun and exciting times of the year. As soon as the season starts, a lot of Filipinos flock to beach resorts or swimming pools in order to beat the summer heat. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, malls also get packed with a lot of window shoppers who go to air-conditioned buildings to get relief from the blazing heat of the sun. However, with the corona virus looming, some activities, destinations, stores and establishments implement strict health protocols and social distancing measures. Safety is of course the number one priority while having fun at the same time.

Amidst certain restrictions due to the pandemic, summer is still a great time to go on a family vacation. This year, we started planning for our family getaway even before the summer season started. We needed to plan ahead because we have to consider the venue and a date in which the resort was not fully occupied or packed to avoid the crowd. This year we rented an exclusive pool villa overnight at Jpark Resort and Waterpark, Mactan Island, Cebu. I believe that one good way to strengthen family relationships is to explore a new place together. In planning our summer destination, it is important to involve the family in the planning process for the vacation. Listening to their input improves communication among family members, while also making the trip something that everyone can look forward to.

We enjoyed a plethora of exciting attractions and activities at Jpark. Whether indoors or outdoors, we enjoyed a variety of water adventure with cute characters that our son Matthew definitely enjoyed. With his fish-designed inflatable, our enjoyed all the colorful sights at the pool. We all felt like we were transported into a magical wonderland of giant mushrooms and other enchanting creatures. At Jpark Activity Zone, we also played exciting and challenging family games for some quality bonding time out of the water. Matthew also enjoyed a tour of the resort in their very own electronic car ride called “D’ Throne”! It is a cool and safe way of exploring the resort. Overall, we were able to make the most of this amazing summertime as a family.
