Now days we cannot imagine life without technology. It has created amazing tools and resources,
putting almost everything at our fingertips. And I am sure that many would agree that technology has made our lives easier, faster, better, and more fun.Let’s take housekeeping appliances for example. No one likes doing household chores. Sure, for some people cleaning their home is a therapeutic joy, but even if you are one of those people, you wouldn’t want your chores to take up all your precious time, would you? Thankfully technology has came to the rescue and has made some tasks much easier and quicker, and continues to do so. Before the development of the humble vacuum cleaner, cleaning the house efficiently has been a frustration for many. Cooking has also become drastically easier with the help of modern technology, we have electric ovens and stoves for cooking and baking, and electric kettles for boiling water. We also have electric refrigerators and freezers to preserve food. Oh, and let’s not forget the washing machine.
For the longest time, one of the most tiresome household tasks was the washing of clothes and lines. Thank to modern technology we can now do the laundry while relaxing or doing other things while doing the laudry with the help of washing machines.
But do you know that many Filipino households still do many housework the traditional way?
Oh, yes, you heard it right! Many of Filipinos don’t have vacuum cleaner and we do the cleaning and dusting in our houses manually.. We use this broom calles “walis tambo” to sweep the floor, and a feather duster to dust the furnitures. Many still do not have ovens in their kitchens. We still use this old model of cooking stove and some are still using coal and chopped woods to cook their meals.
Some houses do not have refrigerators so they do the grocery everyday morning and every afternoon.
Some have fridge but opted not to use it as it consumes a lot of electricity. So they use their refridgerators as a storage for dry goods instead .
Some have washing machines but they are the old model type. These machines do the washing with detergent soap but we still have to rinse the clothes with our hands. Many moms still choose to wash the white clothes with their hands as it is difficult to remove the stains by just washing them with the washing machine. The entire process can be extremely tiring and time consuming but that is how most Filipinos do their laundry.
Eventhough there are already so many modern appliances available in the market to make everyday life easier for many moms, many common Filipinos cannot afford to buy them. Every year the prices of commodities in the market keep getting higher, sadly, the salary of Pinoy workers remains really low.
But despite all the hardships that many Filipinos are facing everyday, we remain hopeful that things will get better in the future.
実は停電が原因でした(^^;
Englishbuds
なんだか不思議な感じがしますよね(^^;
