【講師コラム】アダム講師No.11～ Summer Vacation, A Most Rewarding Experience ～

One of the greatest treats that we can give to ourselves is summer vacation. We can do anything we want such as travel and bond with the family, long rest, gardening, advanced study, and many more. I strongly agree with most people that summer vacation is having more family time after a very long time of work or study. We should have time with our family whether summer season or not.

Spending time with them during summer vacation was one of the best. Before the pandemic, my family was able to travel to one of the best resorts in Laguna, a Philippine province. We swam so much, ate delicious delicacies, fed our eyes with beautiful views, and stayed there for 2 days. Sharing the fun and laughter among the family members was one of the most rewarding experiences before going back to work or to school.

Having a bond with our brothers and sisters, sons and daughters, and husband and wife can give us a very good feeling. It would be more of a rewarding experience if the members of the extended family will join the bond. Every summer vacation, we often visit my parents, brothers, cousins, aunt, and uncle. We usually go to the malls in Metro Manila to play at the amusement park, watch movies, and eat delicious lunch and snacks. Of course, if we are married, we need to know how to interact with the family of our spouse properly. During this year’s summer vacation, I and my wife’s extended family members went to one of the famous waterfalls in the north, Daranak falls. We ate, swam so much, and had great conversations there. After a few days, we visited my wife’s grandparents in Batangas, Philippines. The province is known for having many coconut trees and products, and Bulalo (Filipino Beef Marrow Stew).

The most important thing is that we usually join church gatherings to continuously learn and feed our spirits with upright doctrines.

We, Filipinos, don’t only value our family during the vacation but also our God, the Creator. Therefore, that makes our summer vacation one of the most rewarding experiences in our lives.
