【講師コラム】マリア講師No.10～My Favorite Movie～

Every time I get asked what my favorite movie is, I always get excited! I love talking about movies. I have seen too many movies that I couldn’t decide what my favorite movie is; not until I saw “Forrest Gump”. It is a heartwarming movie with a wholesome message. I watched it two years ago and it became my most favorite movie! It’s a story about Forrest Gump’s incredible and unexpected life journey. I want to tell you about it, but I know I am not going to do it justice; so I would love it more if you could watch it! So, today, I’m just going to tell you five of the many lessons that I learned from this movie, and hope that you will be encouraged to watch it!

The first lesson that I learned is to always believe in myself. In the movie, the mother of Forrest Gump told him to believe in himself always. That is why Forrest Gump excels in all things despite his illness. To believe in yourself is very important because it will give you confidence and vision because you recognize how great you can be. Believe in yourself and you will be one step closer to winning and succeeding.

The second lesson that I learned is to stay positive. In the movie, Forrest Gump is a very optimistic person. He does not focus on the negative aspects of his life such as his illness. Instead, he focuses on the positive things such as his talents and abilities. For that, Forrest Gump becomes a successful athlete and soldier. To stay positive is very important because it increases your motivation to succeed and get what you want. It will give you peace and harmony. It will make you successful in life just like Forrest Gump.

The third lesson that I learned is to love unconditionally. In the movie, Forrest Gump Forrest loves his childhood friend, Jenny, since they were kids. Jenny also loved him, but she felt too restless and damaged that she didn’t see herself worthy of Forrest’s love. But still, Forrest Gump continues to love Jenny until they reunited. Indeed, loving someone must be unconditional.

The fourth lesson that I learned is to be a good and helpful person. In the movie, Forrest Gump is such a kind person. He has a big heart to help others. He helps to save Lieutenant Dan in the war. To be good and helpful is truly a positive character. We should be good and helpful to one another especially to those who needs our help.

The fifth lesson that I learned is to not be afraid of trying new things. In the movie, Forrest Gump is not afraid of exploring things. He becomes a runner, football player, soldier, table tennis player, and fisher. He loves and becomes good in all of it. We should also be like Forrest Gump. We should not be afraid to explore and try new things. We must be open to new opportunities and experiences in life.

“Forrest Gump” is my favorite movie because it taught me these valuable lessons in life. I always try to apply these learnings in my life. It is very helpful in becoming a better person and living my life to the fullest. If you haven’t seen this movie, do yourself a favor. Watch it. Seriously. It’s worth it!
