【講師コラム】エセル講師No.11~My favorite quotations~

My favorite quotations

There are myriads of quotations or quotes we know. Each country has its popular ones. People use them in their speeches and writings. I read and learned some of the reasons why. Here are some of them:
-To reinforce people’s ideas – A quotation offers a second voice that echoes their thoughts, beliefs, and claims.
-They said it better-Quotations provide a better way of saying things. They give you a more concise, memorable phrasing for an idea.
-To be more credible-You improve your credibility because the quotation implies that the person you are quoting agrees with your argument.
-To strengthen an argument-If you reinforce an argument with a quotation, you can often bring closure to your argument.
There were many famous statements of our national hero-Dr.Jose Rizal. Our teacher in Filipino subject quoted, “He who does not love his language is worse than an animal and a smelly fish”. It was the first quote I learned. She told us to love our native tongue. Every Filipino agrees that it is as disgusting as an animal and a smelly fish if we do not love our language. Perhaps that quotation influenced me greatly because I got high scores in the Filipino subject.
Another favorite quote is “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it”- King Solomon. (The Bible)
As a mother of two and a teacher, this quote is practical, so I put it into practice.
Here is another one:
“Time will go on, but you cannot go on with time that is why we must spend every single moment given by God in doing good works.”- Bro Eli Soriano.
His statement is very true. I believe that the best essence of life is: a life lived with God and his commandments- love.
If I mention all my favorite quotes, Mommy Kayo will not have enough space on this page to write her opinions. So I must end here. Happy weekend to everyone.
