【講師コラム】ローマー講師No.9～What is your recommendation of the sightseeing spots in the Philippines?～

Have you been to the Philippines before or are you planning to a trip here? The Philippines is a beautiful country with many amazing sightseeing spots. If you are looking for the best sightseeing spots, let me recommend two amazing destinations that I personally went to and I am sure that you will also like.

I am certain you have heard of Boracay Island. It is very famous for its stunning white sand beaches and crystal-clear waters. But I’m very proud to say, my province also has beautiful beaches. One must-visit is Samal Island if you want to go here in Mindanao region. Samal Island is my family and friends’ go-to beach. It is only a one-hour drive from our house so we usually go there in the summer or to celebrate special occasions. You can relax on the beach, go snorkeling or diving, or even try exciting water sports like parasailing and jet skiing. Samal Island is a paradise for beach lovers.

　

Another great spot is Bohol. This is located in Visayas region. One of the famous attractions in Bohol is the Chocolate Hills. These are unique hills that look like chocolate. It’s a sight that will leave you in awe. I needed to climb 214-step stairs to the observation deck. When you reach the top, you can finally have a great view of the hills. I can still remember the feeling when I saw it at first.  There’s no clear count as to how many hills there are. Some say 1,260, while others have counted as high as 1,776.  They are covered in green grass that turns brown during the dry season, that’s why it is called ‘Chocolate’ hills.

Samal Island and Bohol are both wonderful places in the Philippine. They have given me unforgettable memories. Whether you want to relax or seek adventure, the Philippines has something for everyone. I hope you can explore Philippines someday too!
