【講師コラム】ハーヴィー講師No.8～My Definition of Teaching and the Ways I Use to Ignite New Learning～

When it comes to teaching, many people see it as a simple job – talking, sharing knowledge,
grading papers, and evaluating students. But teaching for me is more complex – it requires
passion, creativity, and dedication. In this blog, I want to share my journey into education and
explain what makes my teaching style unique.
Honestly, teaching wasn’t something I planned for as I graduated with a business-related
degree. I never thought about being a teacher and the academic world wasn’t something I
thought to be part of my career endeavors. But fate had its own plans, and this unexpected
twist ignited a new passion for teaching in me.
Since becoming a teacher, my love for learning has grown, and my excitement for sharing
knowledge has heightened. Teaching has transformed me – making me realize it’s not just about
giving information but a heartfelt journey of self-discovery for both the teacher and the student.
One thing that makes my teaching style stand out is seeing it as more than just a job. It’s a
responsibility and a continuous learning journey. I aim to create a holistic environment that
encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and a genuine love for gaining new knowledge without.
I believe in education’s power to question assumptions and broaden perspectives. By promoting
open-mindedness, I want to create a space where diverse ideas are not just accepted but
celebrated, however in a little or big way.
My teaching style is about creating a dynamic learning experience way beyond textbooks,
papers, and tests. I use real-world examples, interactive activities, and multimedia resources to
make learning fun, engaging and realistically educational. And I can vouch for its effectiveness
through the smiles and joyful faces of my students in class. With this approach, I aim to instill a
lifelong love for learning in them.
I also understand the importance of adapting to the dynamic world of education, especially with
online learning. I use technology, incorporating innovative tools and platforms such as online
games, digital books, and pictures, to enhance the learning experience, making it accessible and
enjoyable for students with different learning styles.
My teaching style combines drive, adaptability, and a commitment to nurturing a love for
learning. While my journey into education was unexpected, it became a fulfilling and
meaningful endeavor. As I continue to explore the beauty of teaching, I am reminded daily of
the significant impact teachers can have on shaping the minds and futures of their students.
