【講師コラム】アダム講師No.5～Dream Journey in Japan～

There are places around the world that I would like to visit. One of those destinations is Japan. Japan is known for their advanced technologies, anime creation, kaizen (continuous improvement), 5s (Seiri, Seiton, Seiso Seiketsu, and Shitsuke), and many more.
I have several dream journeys in Japan but I would like to share my top 4 of those destinations. First, the historical temples that detailed the Japanese culture. With that, I am able to understand their ways of living there. Second, I want to explore the beauty of Mt. Fuji and try to do camping there. The history stated that mountain is one of the largest volcanoes in Southeast Asia and erupted 300 hundred years ago approximately. Third, I would really love to visit the center of anime culture in Japan, Akihabara or the Electric Town of Tokyo. According to the article of Alicia Joy, written last January 24, 2017, most major anime, manga and gaming stores have a branch here, including the iconic Animate for all things anime and Yodobashi for your techie odds and ends. There’s also a high concentration of arcades, theme cafes and gaming shops sure to satisfy even the mightiest of otaku cravings. Lastly, I want to the Toyota car factory in Aichi, Japan. When I was studying in college, my professors always gave highlights about the Toyota Manufacturing firm in Japan because of its good quality concepts. One of the persons behind of its good quality concepts is Taiichi Ohno. He is considered to be the father of the Toyota Production System (TPS), which became the foundation of Lean Manufacturing in the United States. He devised the seven wastes (or muda in Japanese) as part of this system. He also created Just-in-time manufacturing (JIT), kanban, jidoka, supermarkets, cellular manufacturing, takt time, and the Ohno circle.
It is indeed that there are many things that we can learn in Japan while having fun during the exploration. When the pandemic ends, I could visit those dream destinations in God’s will.
