【講師コラム】アダム講師No.6～Learning in Groups～

Group learning can be cooperative learning or collaborative learning. According to an article of the Graduate School of Education (2005), group learning refers to the collection of persons who are emotionally, intellectually, and aesthetically engaged in solving problems, creating products, and making meaning—an assemblage in which each person learns autonomously and through the ways of learning of others.
Having group classes helps students to learn from their teachers and classmates. It also enhances their confidence in sharing their insights or existing knowledge about something with others. With that, most of them were able to create great friendships and enjoy the activities that will make every group lesson engaging and conducive for learning. Since Englishbuds offers varieties of group lessons, students can join in a class where they will meet their classmates having the same interests which will establish good rapport within the group. Having established good relationships with others builds teamwork. With teamwork among the students and teachers, they are hitting one goal which is for everyone to have fun while learning the lessons.
With group learning, they will learn how to socialize and empathize with others. The time will still come that students will meet other people. Some would like them but some would not and they should be used to it in becoming better individuals. Like the turtles, they cannot stay inside their shells forever. Students should not stay inside empty boxes forever. They need to see the beauty outside the box and learn how to go out of their comfort zones and grow with their fellowmen. It is very important because it can help them to live life to the fullest with others.
