【講師コラム】マリア講師No.8 ～My Pets!～

God did not only create animals for human consumption or as a means for human survival. God also created animals to become companions in their life’s journey. God designed some animals to become pets. Pets are animals that become a friend or a family to humans. Dogs and cats are among the most common pets, to name a few. They become the source of happiness and joy in the family.

In our home, we have three pets whom we consider as already part of our family. All of them are dogs, namely; Odi, Kobe, and Gianna. They are very adorable, smart and sweet. In the morning, they always want to be the first ones to greet us. And when we come home after a long day, they excitedly greet each one of us. They are also so amazing because they understand many words and commands. They really never fail to make us happy. They love us unconditionally and of course; we also love them so much that we really celebrate their birthdays every year with a cake and their favorite food. We also buy them new toys.

The eldest of them is named “Odi”. He is six years old. Since he is the oldest and the biggest among the three, he is staying at the house premises to serve as a guard. He ensures us of security especially at night when all of us are asleep. Whenever there is an unfamiliar person approaching the house, he would bark at them to warn us. But when we assure him that we know that person, he immediately befriends them. In fact, he is the friendliest among them. He is even fond of befriending cats.

Our second pet is named “Kobe”, which is copied from the late “Kobe Bryant”, one of the greatest basketball players. Kobe is very cute in size because he is a dachshund, a black and tan one. He is a four-year old dog. Among the three of them, he is the most attentive and the smartest. He is very keen to our conversations. He seems to understand all that we are talking about. He claims to be the “VIP”, short for “Very Important Pet”. He gets so excited to go out every afternoon and barks at us if we don’t let them out yet, so my mom always takes them outside. I go with them sometimes during my break time.

Our third pet is “Gianna”, which is named after the late daughter of Kobe Bryant, “Gianna Bryant”. She is the youngest and the only girl among the three. She is also small in size but has a body bigger than Kobe. Her color is blonde and brown. She is a very sweet and tender dog. She always greets us good morning with a kiss and cries when anyone of us leaves. Even though she’s the youngest, she’s the biggest eater.

Indeed, pets are a gift from God. They are like angels sent straight from heaven. They love us unconditionally, and in reality, they are far more loyal than humans. They do not fail to bind the family and give joy to each one.
