What is your recommendation of Filipino foods?

As a food lover, I’m excited to share my top three Filipino food recommendations to you. I really love Filipino food, and my little extra weight may be a visible sign of my love for food.
If you’re planning a trip to the Philippines soon, there are three delectable dishes you absolutely must try: adobo, kalamay from Bohol, and strawberry taho from Baguio. These treats not only offer a taste of the Philippines’ rich cuisine but also provide a glimpse into its diverse and vibrant culture.

First, let me introduce you to adobo. I believe this is the dish that is mostly eaten by Filipinos, because it is loved by people of all ages. I sometimes cook adobo for my family too. It’s usually made with meat like chicken or pork. The meat is cooked in a yummy sauce made of soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and spices. This mix of flavors makes the meat really delicious and tender. Adobo has a little bit of tanginess and a lot of goodness. I promise that a taste of adobo will leave you craving for more.

Next, let’s talk about my delightful encounter with kalamay in Bohol. Kalamay is a yummy treat from the Philippines that’s both sweet and sticky. It’s made from special sticky rice and coconut milk. I tried many kalamay before but the kalamay in Bohol was the best. What makes this kalamay from Bohol even more unique is that it comes from inside a coconut. It is a favorite dessert that’s perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth.

Lastly, I want to introduce you to the unique and refreshing strawberry taho. Taho is a popular street food made from silky soft tofu, sweet arnibal syrup, and chewy sago pearls. Ever since I was a little kid, I’ve always loved taho. When I was small, I would immediately run out with my 5-peso coin and my cup whenever I hear the taho vendor shouting “Tahoooo!” in our neighborhood. I believe almost every Filipino kid are like that, too. Even as I grew older, my love for taho never changed. However, in Baguio, it was something unique. I tried strawberry taho for the first time. The taho and strawberries together were so good. You should try it when you come to Baguio.

In the diverse world of Filipino cuisine, adobo, kalamay, and strawberry taho are a must-try. These Filipino foods are like little adventures. Each one tells a story and makes me smile. I can’t wait for you to try them too.

アドボとタホは知ってましたが、カラマイは初耳です✨
