【講師コラム】エリカ講師No.6～Empowering Learning: A Facilitator’s Approach to Online Tutoring in English～

As we all know, each person has their unique style. This is especially true for teachers, who must adapt their teaching methods to suit the different learning styles of each student.

As an online tutor, I prefer to use a facilitator or hybrid teaching method. I believe that students should be at the centre of their own learning experience, which is why I employ a student-centred approach. I’m always there to support my students as a facilitator.

When it comes to teaching English, I always set an example of how we can communicate and connect despite our differences. I use free conversation and play-based approaches to create a fun and engaging learning environment where we can share our likes and differences while using English as our second language.

During our lessons, I share my own experiences and ask my students about their day. By sharing my experiences, my students have an idea of how to respond to different questions, which builds their confidence in using English. I also incorporate new vocabulary and expressions into our lessons, and my students often start using these new words and expressions without even realizing it.

As a facilitator, I encourage my students to take the lead in their learning and to have fun while doing it. By employing different teaching styles, I believe that learning can be both engaging and enjoyable.
